Right Back at It!

Hello to all my friends, readers and fellow bloggers:

No, I haven’t given up on blogging. I know that it seems that I have because it’s been many many months.  Now here are the excuses: ok, I have no excuses. Sure, there are busy times, but none more than before when I seemed to find the time to blog. The truth is, I was uninspired. I don’t know why, I just was. That being said, I was passive in attempting to recapture inspiration. I found myself more interested in photos than writing, and caught up in my daily routines. Honestly, I was feeling a little negative for a bit, but a couple minor changes has helped me veer towards the positive again.  Nothing serious, just a mundane routine and lack of healthy choices, but those little things can really tire you out over time. Anyways, for those that still click on my page, thanks, and I’m back, Baby!!

In regards to my preference for pictures, check it out, I discovered Instagram!

Cheers! Thanks for reading!

Back in Action

I have been a very bad blogger. I haven't posted since Labor Day, and the month is already over. My excuse: I have been sick. I didn't recover from my mystery illness until today, pretty much. After being on 3 rounds of antibiotics, having several blood tests and throat swabs, trying Traditional Chinese Medicine, Brazilian Propolis, and Apple Cider Vinegar (all super nasty, but down the hatch they went), and popping a ridiculous amount of vitamins and echinacea, I finally came to a conclusion: It's allergies.
Traditional Chinese Medicine: Herbs to make putrid tea!

Of course, I wasn't sure, but there had to be some explanation as to why I was suffering throat pain, lethargy and swollen glands. All the blood tests came back normal (good news!) and I had stopped thinking it was Mono. So, I dug through my bathroom cupboard and found some old Benadryl. Took one, passed out, and woke up the next morning with considerably less throat pain! My constant, perennial, mild allergies, that I have had for the last 10 years were not allowing my throat to heal! I continued with the Benadryl over a few days to ensure that I wasn't simply reaping the benefits of the placebo effect, and then made an appointment with my Dr.

Of course, I didn't just come to this conclusion myself. The internet helped. Once I thought that it could be caused by allergic complications, I immediately turned to cyberspace to provide me the answers to my many questions: Can post nasal drip cause throat irritation? Can allergies cause your lymph nodes in your neck to swell?  Can this constant infection cause exhaustion? Yes, yes, and Yes! I was so relieved, especially since my frequent visits to health forums in the past two months had so far done nothing but convince me I could have Cancer, or some sort of chronic virus!

Anyway, I was going to post about a new product that I like, but instead I decided to tell you about how I feel better. I am so happy. Health really is #1. Before money, before love, comes health. Health for you and the ones you love. Once you or someone you love loses their health, you will feel petty and silly for ever worrying about money for whining about work, or for letting silly disagreements bring you down.

I have still be reading your blogs, I just haven't been commenting as much because it would prompt you to visit my site, and I was embarrassed by the gross neglect that my blog has suffered. I was simply too busy pitying myself to write; I was negative, lazy, and completely uninspired. I have been on a high-calorie "I feel sorry for myself cuz I feel like ass, but still have my appetite at least" diet. Now I am getting back to normal, and I am excited to be back in blogging action!

Hope you are all well. I look forward to catching up and being a part of the blogger community again!

One more thing: A brave gal that I went to high school with is Running for the Cure, A cure for Breast Cancer, that is. I think there isn't a lot of time left to donate, but I was inspired to share this link since I am so thankful for my health, and really realize how important it is. She is a survivor at the age of 29, which is really an eye opener. It can affect the young as well. Please visit her page here and donate if you can. Thanks!

Inspired, but Forgetful.

Yesterday I had an awesome idea for a blog post. I was laying on my loveseat and it came to me. I remember lounging there and brainstorming it for a bit. It was such a great idea that I knew that it would resonate with me until I got to my PC. I considered sending myself a text on my phone, but the idea was so inspiring that I didn’t deem it to be necessary. I was excited about it and couldn’t wait to write about it. It wasn’t a product push (for a change) but it was exactly the type of thing that I was planning on writing about when I decided to start blogging. Now, it is that time of day. Mid afternoon, I have been fed and caffeinated. It is sunny, it is Friday and I am energetic and in good spirits. I pull up Microsoft Word. I forgot my idea.

Have you ever tried to recall something from your memory, only to discover that it is possible to achieve a complete blankness of the mind? That is what happened to me today. It is similar to trying to figure out what movie a certain actor was in, or the name of a forgotten acquaintance. The more I tried to recall the idea, the less coherent thoughts I had at all. It could possibly be the most frustrating thing ever! It’s almost as if I could feel the proverbial wheels turning in my cranium, trying to ignite some sort of useful spark to light up the ol’ memory. Nothing. So, here I am, blogging about my inability to remember the good idea I had for my blog.

Going forward, I will make sure I document my ideas as they come. This has happened before, and I should have learned from those experiences, but I wasn’t as excited about those ideas. I always dismissed it as a fleeting inspiration that must have not been that important to me after all, since I had forgotten it. I do often text message myself ideas as they come, (and yes, sometimes I get excited thinking someone is texting me even though the vibration comes in tandem with a “message sent” notification) but haven’t revisited any of those ideas yet, as I am seldom at a loss for what to write about.  Today would have been a great day for that, but I was so inspired by my inability to remember my initial inspiration that I felt compelled to write about that instead.

Does this happen to anyone else? Or are you all more proactive in documenting your ideas? What method do you use to prevent good ideas from slipping away?

Hope you all have a great weekend! Cheers!

Word Count- how much is too much?

I have been working on my next post, and I am excited about it... I was re reading it, and I thought it seemed long. I checked the word count. 1500 words. I looked it over again, and couldn't decide on what to omit or shorten.

Since I am new at blogging, I am unsure; How much is too much? Do any of you, my amazing readers, want to read a post that long?

Any advice is welcomed- Time to go revise!!

Blog-tastic!

March 8th 2011.

Ok, so I know that I need to blog. Or write anything, really. I have an inferiority complex when it comes to writing, and perhaps that is rightfully so. The majority of my free time is spent being lazy and addicted to the internet.  My first blog entry then shall be about blogging.

I am not here to convince the general public that I am enlightened, omniscient, superior, or even remotely informed or intelligent. A blog, by definition on Dictionary.com is a web site containing the writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions etc. So, I am here to provide you, the (perhaps unfortunate) reader with those experiences, observations and opinions. In other words, I am here to blog… (I love when nouns get to be verbs). I will have to remain focused on keeping it slightly impersonal; the majority of my writing experience stems from journaling or poetry, which are both emotional outlets. Putting anything I have wrote out there for anyone to read is huge for me, not only to have the general public reading it, but also to have people close to me reading it. In fact, keeping in mind that I am neither thin or a good singer, let it be known that I would be more comfortable skinny dipping with the general public and my close friends as would I be more comfortable belting out a Mariah Carey song on national television.

For someone that has a desire to write, I sure spend a lot of time not writing. I do the majority of my journaling (ok, so I haven’t in over a year) or poetry writing (I used to call them song lyrics in an attempt so seem cool and not geeky, although it was only to myself …anyways) on my laptop, which is currently out of commission due to a faulty power cord. My other PC is used primarily for playing video games, and I have trouble tapping into my creative or thoughtful side whist placed in front of a 42 inch screen in a less than comfortable chair. I am currently writing from my work PC… and this will have to do for now. I am done making half-hearted excuses as to why I do not write. I am by no means done procrastinating, but I figure having an initial blog entry may motivate me to write more often.  In regards to my inferiority complex, I figure that the above disclaimer indicating that I am neither informed nor intelligent will help me feel somewhat comfortable when I write. Finally, I am not writing to impress anyone. If you do not like my experiences, observations and opinions, or if you do not like how I present them to you, then feel free to go do something that you enjoy, like read celebrity gossip or the boring old news. I am not at all concerned with grammatical error, improper word usage or spelling, lack of punctuation, or overuse of profanity or slang. I am just here to practice my writing and typing, and revisit some of my experiences.

Here is what you can expect from me: I plan to find the flash drive containing the writing I did while travelling, back in 2008 and 2009. I had a lot of great experiences, and would like to share them. Travelling is one of my few passions, and I look forward to using words instead of only pictures to tell my stories.
I plan to rant and rave about things that arise in the world, in my life, down the street or even in Hollywood. What I do promise is to not post rant-y entries whilst pre-menstrual.
I plan to continue to observe everything and have an opinion on it. I currently share these opinions with co-workers and occasionally my Facebook friends.
I thank you in advance for reading my blog, and I apologize that I may not be as witty or insightful as you were hoping I would be.

Cheers!
